View Full Version : Guess who?

Rick Riddell

So with the season here in Maine ending with a brutal snowstorm, I thought it would be fun to change some gears and play a fun little game of guess my grade using wood as a clue. So things don’t get too crazy I’ll start by posting a picture, who guesses it correctly will post a pic and so forth! I think it can be a fun little game to test your skills and a chance to see some great looking wood (I mean who can get tired of looking at great looking stocks!)

Were stocks graded down for non symmetry? (ie fancy on one side, plain on the other)?

Try this one....

That always seems to be the problem when you case them John ,the Better side always seems to be the side that goes down ! The Picture I posted on Page one of this thread is a Late Remington , 1/2 Frame 12 Gauge D Grade and in my Opinion Both sides are more than suitable but I think this is more of a Remington Era thing than the earlier Parker Guns ! Of course just my opinion !

We generally see "non-symmetrical" stocks on Grade 2, 1, and 0 guns but not so much on Grade 3 and higher.

Brian I haven’t a clue, it looks surreal to be a Parker stock! Probably an odd ball 1 or 2.

To be completely honest Dean gave it away. I remember the 2 of you discussing that gun in a few threads.

Russ Jackson
01-02-2020, 10:54 PM
The Letter actually states who ordered the gun even though the info. came off the Remington Cards and that's about all the info. we got about the gun ! The Original owners Initials are on the Oval in the stock and I took the gun to Larry DelGrego's shop years ago and put the original Punches in the serial numbers on the inside of the stock and they matched perfectly ! I believe it to be all original as well even the Barrel Wedge engraving !
