Figured I’d see if the mudbat flight was in and took our oldest Setter and my Parker 16g VH for a jaunt. Flushed 2 mudbat then for a bonus, we got into ditch chickens!! Made for a swell afternoon.

The gun is actually a Trojan. The frame had been stamped "0V", that is why I said it was a V grade. I have been informed that the lack of a dolls head rib extension is one way to differentiate between the Trojan and other graded guns. Rib is stamped "Trojan Steel Barrels", so, there we have it. Birds are still in the pot and this 16 is a game getting machine.

Just curious...for the record: is a ditch chicken any pheasant or a certain "kind?" (One that has been released for you...a wild one...??) I will admit that with the shenanigans that pheasants engage in here in Missouri, it is the one bird that I don't have regrets when I bring one to bag.

Ditch chickens are pheasants. We pretty much only have put & take anymore in PA. The PGC does a nice job raising them with very little human interaction.
