It's pretty wet here in the East, all the way up and down the Eastern Seaboard...

But what I want to know is, has anybody been out turkey hunting this morning?

...and how did you do?

Our season in NY opens May 1.
I am seeing a lot of turkey. I don't hunt them.

I don't blame you Bob - my life would be a lot less stressful if I didn't hunt them.

I would have been out after them if the seasons were open.

Dean, just riding the roads this morning here in Gilford I counted 24 different toms:) Can not wait until May 1...............and we can now get two toms instead of one for the first time:bowdown:

A friend of mine, the Vt. dairy farmer down the road a mile from camp, three years ago on opening day... 2016 was hunting 300 yards below my camp. These toms were together and when he shot the biggest the other one started to kick the snot out of the dead one, so he shot that one too.

Rains here about half the time. Been raining three days now. Supposed to clear up tomorrow. Got in about 15 minutes yesterday and started to rain. Poured 3 and 1/2 inches out this morning.

Well Dean I guess that's what you get when you kick a Tom when he is down:shock:

Big tom sounding off outside my bedroom window at 6AM woke me up this morning. First one I've seen or heard in last 3 years in my area. Haven't given it my best effort during that time, they have been scarce to non existent. This gives me hope for this season, better get the NH ready. Its strange I could swear I saw web feet on that Tom with all the rain we have had. Good luck to all.

I have seen that happen several times using archery equipment. Never had it happen while gun hunting, seen it on the outdoor shows plenty though. Must be sorta common.

I've killed two gobblers after they pounced on a bird I'd shot. Both were accidents as I thought the second bird was the first one getting up to run off. On two other occasions I got two Toms with one shot, again, by mistake. I guess there's bad luck in turkey hunting...and then there's my luck (a.k.a. dumb luck).
