It’s been a strange year in the Colorado high country. I’ve had this notion that the birds follow the snow melt but this year there was no snow. The birds didn’t show up to my favorite area until this week which in the past 2 years it was around the end of April. It’s dry in the high country and green up just started. Yesterday morning I found turkey sign on the logging road so I used my favorite shock gobble call...my Tacoma’s horn...and two birds immediately gobbled. I set up above them and my bird was on the ground at 5:50 am. I used my Ithaca short 10 and RST 1&1/4 7&1/2s perfect load.

I'm guessing you made one heck of a devastating head shot judging from the head not shown in the pictures

Congrats! I was up on the front range this morning before work and had multiple hens within 15 feet of me. The gobbler stayed just on the other side of the knoll, though. I’ll be back after him in the morning and a little farther down the ridge.

Jealous of that Ithaca that I could not get Richmond's store to budge on the price but you could out there. Nice gun and great bird! Love those white feathers as we don't get them here in the east.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an Ithaca! Beautiful bird! Next year I plan on taking my EH.
