A friend just bough a pair of consecutively-numbered Uberti Army Colts. They are beautifully and heavily blued and he would like to "age" them a bit. Wondered about products/techniques and/or experience with this. He wondered about something like a pliable/flexible/supple cloth impregnated with something between jeweler's rouge and 0000 steel wool which would leave no scratches visible to the un-aided human eye but provide lots of control and nuance capability. Any input/suggestions appreciated; thanks...

Try Semi-Chrome. A bit on a patch. And rub with care...

Thanks. The finest I found on my quick search is 1000 grit; too coarse. He's tried something he got at an auto store that's 3200 grit and even that left scratches more visible than he wants. I told him about some micro mesh pads I use on pipe stems that go 3600/4000/6000/8000/12000; I think he's gonna try a set of those.
