I was able to get two rooms a couple days ago but they said they couldn't issue confirmations yet. They assured me I had the two rooms.

I just booked at the comfort across the street, they are as screwed up as the Hampton Reserved 2 rooms sent conformation on 1 room called back sent me the same conformation for 1 room, I was going to go in the Airstream but all camp grounds are full within 50miles because of people from out of town working the outage at the nuke plant the rooms at the comfort are 125.00 a night if I do not get a break on price I am going to cancel feed em fish heads, Gary

What happened to the block of rooms for the PGCA?

Brett Hoop
01-11-2018, 04:07 PM
I was able to make reservation last Thursday or Friday, but they did have to call me on Monday to provide me a conformation number. If I understood them correctly they were going through a computer update/upgrade. I believe something was said about a remodel in process also. I did mention the PGCA block of rooms and the Southern as Josh had mentioned.

That's weird, sorry computer or not if a set number of rooms are blocked off you know how many rooms are available, even if you have to use a sheet of paper and count down as rooms are reserved ............... and mark off each room as it is reserved

Guys- hold on for a second here - the Hampton Inn has our block set up with the manager but isn’t yet in their system. They have a block of 75 rooms for the PGCA which is why they are saying they have no rooms available. I’ll call the manager again tomorrow to get it cleared up.

I made reservations last week but had to follow up on
my confirmation number yesterday. They quoted computer
upgrades in process and the PGCA block had not yet in been installed in their system.
Asst. Mgr. did confirm the 75 room block. 😊

Brett come join us for a day at Drakes Landing.

That sounds like fun! I'll check with you as we get closer.

Many Thanks

I'll be looking forward to it. Drakes is a great shooting venue with two 100 target sporting courses and a nice 5 stand. Run by good people who appreciate us coming.

BEWARE
I just called as I haven't gotten anything in writing and the guy looking at the list said my name wasn't there.
I am awaiting a call from manager. I had called on January 10th or so.

Bill Murphy
01-18-2018, 10:59 AM
Brian, you're referring to the Hampton Inn in Sanford?

George M. Purtill
01-18-2018, 11:55 AM
Very frustrating but I called again this morning and found out my name was still nowhere to be found.
I was less than amused and the man on the phone said he was taking care of it right then
I did get a confirmation just now but the room rate is wrong.
Now I have to make another call.

Mills Morrison

Good grief, this is frustrating. Perhaps we need to take our business elsewhere next year.

I just booked a room and got a immediate conformation. They are out of double rooms.

Eric Eis
01-18-2018, 02:55 PM
It's really amazing that they can't make this work because of an upgrade on the computer system, they have blocked out X number of rooms for the PGCA, so if the computer isn't working there is always pen and paper....... Three pieces of notebook paper that has 25 lines per page, put down how many of the rooms are single or doubles then when someone calls put name down on the paper and when the computer is updated, update the computer from the sheet of paper...no can't do that, it's too complicated...!.:banghead::crying::cuss:

If it's any consolation, I had on my "to do" list Tuesday to follow up on my reservations. Low and behold I got a call from Antonio at The Hampton in Sanford to confirm my reservation. He sent my confirmation by e-mail. I didn't ask any more questions.

Maybe I missed it, I can't seem to find a post with the 2018 PGCA group rate at the Hampton? Also, does it include the state, county and city taxes = something like a 13% surcharge last year?

John Davis
01-19-2018, 06:14 AM
The group rate is $105/night. That does not include tax.

George M. Purtill
01-19-2018, 09:49 AM
I also have problems speaking Southern. I should have had John Davis call for me.

Gary Carmichael Sr
01-19-2018, 01:51 PM
Well, I speak Southern, drink alcohol with moderation and smoke a stogy once in a while but it did not help me, but alas after the manager ask why he could not put a 10 gauge shell in his 16 gauge gun, and I like a good southern boy of virtue explained the dire consequences of such action , he suddenly found my name in some lost file and I got a reservation and conformation # it has been a exhilarating experience getting my rooms and yes all doubles were sold out had to get 2 king rooms. I will arrive on the 26th and hope my reservations are good or I will have to tell the manager where he can put that 10 gauge shell! Gary

Josh Loewensteiner

All- I have confirmed with the hotel manager, PJ that the block is all set and ready to go. There are about 50 rooms left in our 75 room block.

Larry Stauch

I called today for a friend, and the Hampton would not give me a conformation # for him said they would call back later, also told me that only 13 rooms were left in the block, I get a different story every time I call, I finally after two weeks got my # last week, I wish every one good luck in getting your rooms and will see y'all in April, Gary

I talked to the manager today and there are only 7 rooms of the 75 room block left so it can’t be that there are that many issues. The hotel staff will not give a confirmation number out to anyone other than the person booking the room. That is a security problem.

I called today and spoke with the desk(?)and was told there are no rooms available. Has anyone booked since Josh's last posting?

Bill Murphy
02-15-2018, 04:06 PM
The person I talked to promised to plug me in after taking all of my information. He promised that he would call back, but, in any case, I would have a room even though he couldn't give me a confirmation number. Sometime later, I called the same number and gave all my information again to a person who said there were no blocked rooms. Suspicious, I asked where she was talking to me from. She said she was with Hilton Reservations. I told her I had called the hotel. She replied that the hotel was not in the reservation business and my call was automatically switched to Hilton Reservations. The only rate she could give me was $199. I then called the hotel, making sure I was actually talking to the hotel, not a reservation contractor. The person read off the confirmation number that I had just received from the reservation contractor. At least that much worked. She said that the clerk who took my reservation had been fired and did not "plug me in" as he had promised. The "hotel" could only give me the $199 rate and no one on premises is authorized to give me any other rate. The manager, AJ or Antonio, might be in tomorrow or he may not be. She would have him call me but could not tell me when. I am not happy with the Hampton, and too stressed to call the Comfort. I think I will just head for the Northeast shoot.

Bill try the Quality Inn in Fuquay-Varina. it's not far from Sanford and way less expensive. I've stayed there many times and it's a nice place.

Tha Sanford Hampton used to be very good and very accomodating . The blame for their very recent sloppy customer service and booking problems falls squarely on the shoulders of the Sanford Hampton ans no one else.

So, are some of us going to stay at the comfort Inn in Fuquay-Varina again? There was some talk of going elsewhere last year. I am happy with it--sure it aint the Hilton, but its much cheaper, and you can spend that extra money on another round of clays. Looking forward to shooting with everyone again, and seeing what new toys that they have picked up in the past year. I dont think my friend Mark will be going this year, but the other guys from Wheeling probably will.

Rich Anderson

The comfort Inn has a lot going for it, cost, close to Sanford and real close to Drakes Landing especially if you like to shoot not stand in line to shoot.

Tom Pellegrini

Harold and Rich not to be contradictory but we stayed at the Quality Inn in Fuquay/Varina last few years. And yes it is very reasonable and close to Drake Landing, no lines and just all around fun shooting.

Sorry, my bad guys. Tom is right(as always), it is the Quality Inn, not the Comfort Inn--I may just make my reservations this weekend. Tom, look forward to seeing you there. I will probably get in on Wed. eve.

I appreciate the thought Tom but I don't need hotel reservations for the Southern:nono::)
