I will go into more detail on my 2 weeks in the UP later, but had a blast shooting my little J.Manton (Belgian) 20 ga with 30" London twist barrels. Ran into some guys shooting Benellis and they sure couldn't believe what I was shooting.

The rest of the time I shot my VHE 20. Yes that is a double limit shot by my friend Terry and myself( 10 grouse).

Edgar, be on the lookout--I'm sending Betty with a grouse for you.
If she doesn't make it, Fancy has one for you also. Fancy, my 2 year old really turned on this year, and is going to make a fine grouse dog. We took a lot of grouse over her.

Took these 3 birds over Fancy's solid points in about 3 minutes

Guns and birds are nice, but the dogs are what its really all about. Both dogs were a joy to hunt with. Betty is going on 12 and is the best dog I've ever owned. Fancy is 2, but is grouse wise beyond her years. It really came together for her this year, and she is very easy to handle, she is going to be a good one.

Rick, I think this picture goes well with your GBE quote on thinning aspen and woodcock. I'd be happy to have my ashes spread there!
