Can someone give me the dates of Walter King's employment with Parker Bros? I have a DHE that was at some point re-barreled by Parker and has Walter's stamp on the underside of the breech. The Parker letter I have in my possession only addresses the original configuration which was Damascus barreled. At some point it was returned to Parker and re-barreled with a Titanic barrel and serialized with the same original serial number.

Knowing King's employment dates will give me at least the timeframe/period during which the DHE was re-barreled.

Thanks in advance

You mean Walter King? He was there most of his adult life if I remember correctly. It may be better to find out when Titanic barrels were introduced as a starting date and about 1937 as an ending date when most Remington barrels were made in Ilion NY without the rib inscriptions.

Yes, Walter King (Krug was a football team mate of mine - my slip up) I have corrected spelling above in main body of text.

Walter King took over as Superintendent after his father Charles A. King retired in 1910.

I don't know when he began working in the Parker Gun Works or when he left Parker Bros. employment.

Titanic Steel barrels were introduced in 1897.

I guess the question is when did he start stamping his initials on barrels? From 1910 onward?

No, I believe he was a barrel maker prior to being superintendent.

I think I'll check the dates of manufacture of all my guns with W.K. stamped in the barrel flat.

211,XXX W.K.

163,XXX J.G.

90,XXX K.

147,XXX W.K.

I'm stopping here - The vast majority of my Parkers have no recognizable inspector's mark other than Charles A. King, Walter Kink, Jim Geary, and somebody identified as simply P. In other words, thy're blank where we would expect to see an inspector' mark.

But No. 147,XXX does prove that Walter King was inspecting barrels in 1908, two years before he became Superintendent.
