I and fellow PGCA member Ray went to Cape May, NJ to try some late December Woodcock hunting , a 2 day hunt was cut to one day because of rain but we still had some luck thanks to Marty , Ray's English setter ,we found 4 birds yesterday and my VH 20 got one using RST #10 Woodcock loads

That VH 20 looks like just the gun for woodcock!

Jack, We were going to hunt Highbees Beach on day 2 , we drove by there late on Monday and there were 2 trucks there that looked like hunters. Have you hunted there?

James,
No I haven't hunted there although I have wanted to. I recently inherited a beach house near there this year. I have heard that Higbees beach is really good and there is an area about 7 miles from the Villas on Route 47 off of "Woodcock Road" that is supposed to be good also. I think it is state land.

Jack , We hunted Woodcock lane off rt 47 , we had 1 point and flush there but close to parking area and a house, so no shot. Lots of land we did not hunt, it was getting late.
We went there cold and tried to explore as much as we could. Get a copy of New Jersey Cape May National Wildlife Refuge Hunting Regulations as some areas are deer hunting only.
