Saw this one in a gun shop today...pretty rough shape 16ga GH 0 frame with a straight stock. The Damascus barrels are pretty beat up. Both tubes look like they have had lots and lots of dents raised (poorly) and I'd say they are beyond safe use. The stock is also pretty rough, not a lot of dents but it probably has been cracked and repaired and a chip is gone from under the DHBP which is also cracked. It's also been pinned.

The receiver is not bad but no CC and a fair bit of old rust overlay.

Anyway, they want $600 for it....I'm wondering if it's even worth owning but hey, I have a hard time walking away from just about any sub-$1000 Parker....

If the barrels are no good and the stock is beat, then that is a little much for a parts gun.

I know but it sure looks good from 20 feet!

Here are some pics. The barrels are 28" and you can see how wavy they are. 13.5" LOP.

They also had a clean & cased Repro 20 ga for $4K

Looks like the barrels have been cut too. I don't know, if the barrels were salvageable without too much complications, it would be tempting.

I didn't bother looking to see how the matting looked. The barrels are just really hammered. I'd bet you could shoot low pressure loads through them for the next 50 years but they'll always be ugly and wavy. I think if you tried to fix them they'd be so 'worked' by the time you were done something wouldn't be right.

What I see is a serviceable receiver, triggers, forend iron, and trigger guard (good for restoration). But the gun needs new wood, buttplate, and barrels.

It is too bad but you are probably right

Decent 16 g. 0-frame barrels aren't that hard to find. I think that gun might be worth a transplant.

I'd send them to Kirk Merrington for appraisal if they were mine.

Well I think the gun has a new owner so we may see it again someday...

Hopefully we find out it was salvageable and get a good Parker Pages article on it

We will see how it works out and I will document progress. Thank You, again, Greg. I needed a retirement project!

My 16 gauge 1 frame had similar ripples in the barrels and dale Edmonds got them out

Sometimes with barrels like these the temptation after tapping the irregularities as much as possible is to finally strike the exterior and hone the bores... Do not allow this to be done. You may end up with barrel walls that are too thin to be safe.

Dean is right.

Yeah, that's what I meant when I said they would need to be worked so much something would not be right when it was all over. I just don't see how a gun could get so many dents to start with....repeated carelessness I guess.

The bores were not too bad in terms of pitting and the chamber area looked fine, inside and out. But just so may dents on the tubes.

If only it had a fishtail lever...

I don't recall seeing a 0 frame hammerless with a fishtail?
