Likely causes of right trigger failing to reset?

Do I need to remove the floor plate to see if the area is gunked up? Doesn't happen every time, but the gun went back in to the truck yesterday after 3 cocking failures within about 10 shots. 109,000 serial number range.

removing the floor plate would let you know if it is dirt just in the trigger,

following Brian's disassembling instructions for the action may give you a clearer picture

Had a 1891 GH do the same thing last week, pulled trigger and cleaned with solvent and good as new. Wasn't that much dirt, just stiff crud that hindered movement.

Could be a broken or very weak seat spring. Or in need of cleaning.
Could be a hammer/sear wear issue, but that is the last thing that I would suspect.

Thank you! I have the trigger plate removed. How do I get the trip pin out? Is it pulled up or pushed forward?

Turns out the action is pretty dry and very dirty. Hope that is my problem. Trying to remove the stock for better cleaning.

Trip assembly is pulled up out of the action. But it has to be disengaged from the top lever first.
