A limit of Drake Eiders from Pleasant Bay Chatham/Harwich area on Cape Cod Massachusetts. It was cold end of the season hunting. VH 12 with 28 inch barrels that I salvaged just to use as a duck gun. I actually used to run steel shot handloads through it.
These were shot with RST Nice shot #2.
I wanted to use my 10 gauge Grade 1 hammer but I can't find any non-tox loads or reload any yet. That's for next year I guess.

George you have to edit and 'rotate' them and 'save' them in their proper position.

Thank you Mark Ouellette for the rotation.
As for Dean-o, my merciless Editor in Chief- THEY ARE PERFECT AND UPRIGHT IN MY COMPUTER!!!!!!!!! [IE, they are saved in the proper position.]
Maybe I should use my left hand when I hit the upload button.

George you are welcome. Any Parker deserves to be appreciated! I also edited your photo above to sharpen it a bit. The photo below is the same with different light, or lack thereof...

Scott, I think a brace hanging in a "game taken" repose would be wonderful.... what do you think George?

I find it sometimes necessary to crop the picture (after rotating it) if only barely inside the original edges of the pic - and then save them.

The guys who left the dock before us were taxidermists from Texas and Arkansas. They wanted Eiders and Buffleheads.

And you gave them to those guys????
George M. Purtill

No....... I let them have the opportunity to freeze their butts off, get soaked by rising tides that were supposed to be falling, watch seals swim through our rig, un-wrap decoy lines from boat props, spend their last 24 hours de-salting their equipment including guns, ammo and gun cases. Why should I deprive them of that fun that I had?
Those Texans couldn't believe it was snowing. Guess they only looked at the beach pictures of Cape Cod.

What do you suppose brought them Texans all the way to a Cape Cod beach this time of year?

That we do George ,the best duck on the table ... unless you have access to an open boat ,most of the shoreline where they frequent will put your life at risk ...even in the boat up here can a hateful proposition during open season .

Speaking of shoreline ducks in Canada - Has anyone else seen the video of the Cheasapeake retrievers working on the shoreline, being smashed against the rocks, and still struggling to bring home the bacon , er- ducks? Absolutely brutal conditions.
It's on Youtube somewhere, but i can't find it. All I will say is that I wouldn't put my Lab in those conditions

Yeah ,that's it right there ...I mentioned it one time here before that the gunners up here tie ropes to the dogs to haul them in when they get to the beach .

Still on my hit list. Went all the way to Nova Scotia to kill one a few years ago but the wind blew too hard the whole time I was there and we couldn't get out far enough.
Nice work!

I've got a few, but not many after my wooden decoy hunt over Christmas. Plenty of magnums though, that's probably the gun I'd shoot anyway.

December/January in Maine is excellent, I've never hunted them but its big business up here, a lot of sports set up right out of Lamoine.
