Got a interesting GH ,its a 12ga made in 1899 with Remington V grade 1/2 frame barrels and forearm iron and wood, the receiver is a 1 frame , 1 1/16 between the firing pin holes. Remington date code of july 1940 on barrels. The guns weight is 6 lb 10 oz with the 26 inch barrels. The letter says it had 28 inch Dam barrels and had a weight of 6 lb 12 oz when it was made. Has anyone else seen other older 12ga #1 frame guns that were fitted with Remington 1/2 frame barrels ?

Might check the lost and found section from time to time. The Damascus barrels may show up.

I have seen this in one other I cation where half frame barrels were put on a gun of a different original frame size by Remington. That other case was a 16g gun originally that had a set of 12g tubes put on it and stamped 1/2.

As I know it, the 1/2 frame was used in Lou of 1 frames for 12g because of parts running out.

As the 1/2 is a mixture between the 0 and 1.

Nice Remington example of the 1-frame pin spacing being the same as the later 1/2-frame pin spacing.

My DHE #1/2 frame gun has #1/2 frame 12 gauge barrels and #1 frame 16 gauge barrels. Each set has its own forend because #1/2 frame barrels use a #0 size forend. This DHE is a true lightweight #1/2 frame gun.
