I lived not too far from their shop and started going there to look at his rifles and shop. He went through a period of making exclusively top end stocks for Ruger No. 1 rifles. I had a fixation on these for years. They produced them on a set of CNC machines and I was always amazed that they did the machining by flipping the stocks from side so side on a flat setup. Their work was really good. Over the years, their stock of Turkish/Asian wood grew enormous. I went there several times and bough wood in bulk. They would buy shipping container loads of wood, pull out the very highest grade blanks for their own use and for their sales, then sell the rest at something like 5/ $750. I would go there and they would show me two or three pallet loads and I would go through and pick. Most of the ones I bought would have been exhibition grade to a lot of dealers. They didn't seem to be concerned about time and would spend half a day showing you around.
The single shot rifles they built were pretty unique and very accurate and lightweight. When they were made, I think the fact they were a hammer design and a breakaction design impeded sales so their total production was very low. However, the fact that the triggers were exceptional and the design had some unique features to gaured against hinge wear made them desireable. I have only a couple but I have noticed the prices seem to have been on a rise ever since they stopped production.
