Hole/screw in the front of skeet forearm

Perhaps a stupid question, but. Can someone tell me what the screw is for in the front of the beavertail skeet forearm. I have seen these show in several pictures.

It is a reinforcing rod that screws into the front of the forend iron which in turn latches to the reinforced, one piece, forend lug/lower rib.

If not for these reinforcing pieces the overly large beavertail forend with its larger gripping surface would pull the old style forend lug away from the barrels.

I bought them both separately and sold them separately to members here.

The stock is one of the finest aftermarket stocks I have ever seen.

The .410 forend is magnificent. It has a serial number correctly stamped in the bottom of channel but I couldn’t read the whole thing. I don’t know if it’s the real deal but I can’t say it’s not.

Dean. Tell us what you know about the reinforced barrel lugs on 410s with beavertail forearms. I’ve herd that some have it and some do not. Thanks in advance Jack.

Jack, all I know about the .410’s and beavertails is that they didn’t have the reinforcing screw. Regarding the reinforced one-piece forend lug on .410’s, as far as I know is that the one-piece lug was eventually adopted for A grade Parker doubles regardless of whether the gun had a beavertail or not… so the early ones would not have it but the late ones did (?) (did Remington incorporate the one-piece on all doubles?).
