Most folks shoot 1 1/2 ounces of shot . But I’ve never heard of any stipulation on charge weight . Of the ones I’ve owned they weighed anywhere from 13-16 pounds . Typically the larger the payload the more recoil . 1 1/2 ounces isn’t bad , 2 ounces I find rather stout .

I have made 1.5 and 1.75 oz BP loads in my 13.5 lb gun. while recoil is extremely light. the only problem is seeing through the dense cloud of smoke for the second shot. I don't know why its even got a second barrel.
