One of the things that jumps out at me is the lack of showing any flux being used during the welding process, plus only places in the film where scale removal is shown. I wonder if they just didn't show these in the film or if these old world masters knew how to get around these processes to prevent inclusions & delamination's.

You have to descale and flux to get a good forge weld -- they just left that part out. After all it's not an instructional video, it's just showing the basics
