The dove is indeed a humbling bird to hunt and shoot at and that is probably why they taste so good with a strip of bacon wrapped around them and cooked on the grill, accompanied by a good bottle of red. Laat week one of my grandsons, on his first dove hunt, asked "Are all flying game birds this hard to hit?" It is a great bird for to hunt since it is such a challenging wing shot. But every now and then you get one that just insists on coming in to you and that makes up for some of the misses. What gauge were you shooting?
