Trying to fill the dog days gets harder and harder each year as I get more impatient to spend my time with the dogs chasing birds. The dogs seem to take all things in stride. Why can't people be more like them (except for the sniffing, er, well, you know...).

Gordon McQ was one of the best all time outdoor writers ever...I wish he'd wrote more about grouse and woodcock hunting
