Remington's use of the tremendous Parker Meriden inventory after the move to Ilion occasionally had some very satisfying results: as stock blanks were used up, Remington wound up stocking a number of lower grade guns with exceptionally figured wood rather than turn new blanks of lesser quality and figure commensurate with the lower grade. As a result you will sometimes see VH, PH and GH grade guns with figured wood that would have been appropriate for the next highest grade. Years ago I owned a GH grade 12 ga. that had wood on it that would have made a DH proud, a late, high-numbered Ilion gun.
