Have You Seen These Before?

I don't even remember where I got these...
If you've never seen them before - Enjoy! . |
Suponski posted these years ago.

Maybe that's where I got them Brian. Dave and I shared gobs of things... I miss him since he's drifted away.

I’ve seen a few 1/2 frames pop up recently in various places and none have the lightening cuts noted in this drawing. Has anyone seen one with them or were they dropped before production began?
|
Those are actual factory blueprints.
And in the lower right you’ll see the September 1930 date so this is approximately 4 years before Remington bought the gun works from Parker Brothers. Dave Suponski is a loong time Life Member and a great friend of many of us. He doesn’t post very often anymore but he has an encyclopedic memory of things Parker. . |
Sorry Dean, I made an edit to my post as I realized after the 1930 date was on there. These seem like an early revision unless someone has seen a 1/2 frame with lightening cuts?
|
These document's confirm that the 1/2 frame was in fact a Meriden development. But the drop in manufacturing and the subsequent sale if the company did not warrent the need to push forward much innovation or change.
The general consensus is that any and all of the 1/2 frames and barrel sets for them were made in Meriden, but not actually used until Remington Illion production, after they ran out of 1 frame parts and they needed a substitution for the lightweight 12g. Since we know that Remington never actually made any frames in Illion. They just had whatever was made in Meriden. One will also notice that features shown on the drawing like the lightening cuts were not actually implemented on the 1/2 frames guns. |
Question number 2: Has anyone seen an original 16 gauge 1/2 frame gun as mentioned in the blueprint? I have a put together from two guns 16 gauge 1/2 frame gun but it is not an original 16.
