I have been a frequent customer of Graf & Son and Midway for many years. They send out e-mails when items arrive, but they are sold out by the time I read the note and go to their website, and I check my e-mail frequently! I have been finding primers and bullets at smaller, lesser-known outfits, for non-gouging prices.

I went to the Kittery Trading Post again last night, almost all powders out of stock, 100% of shotgun powders out of stock. There were half dozen bags of shot, all #6, price has increased to $54.99 plus 5% Maine sales tax. This is the highest retail price on a bag of shot I have ever seen.

I still have not seen a box or a brick of 22 LR this year. We will in a few short weeks have lost the entire summer for great number of youth to learn or practice shooting with a 22 in formal and informal settings. IMO the continued lack of availability of 22 rimfire is a very big threat to the future of shooting sports as we go forward.

Pete, I agree on the .22's! I have been traveling and have looked along the way for .22's anywhere I had the chance to stop and look. I looked here in New Hampshire (and Maine), Pennsylvania, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Louisiana as I traveled. I went into big box stores and little gun shops I saw along the way and I only saw one box of .22s.

I am shooting .22 tomorrow and will probably be out of ammunition when I return home.

I bought a brick of Winchester 209s at KTP last tuesday, and paid $45. Saw it friday in NY for $36.50. Shot was $48, plenty of powder.

None of this shortage is good. But it seems to be very regional/area sensitive. Or maybe just luck. I have no problem finding powder (albeit not my preferred type) and most primers. both at slightly elevated prices of course. But a $54 bag of shot is better than NO bag of shot.

I was at Gander Mountain this week and bought a brick of federal 22s for $2.59 a box. Their ammo shelves were full .

Maybe some of the vendors aren't pushing the manufacturers and suppliers hard enough to get their shelves filled. You'd think a high-volume store like KTP would have enough buying power (leverage) to get more than they do.

the walmart store in my area gets a coupls shipments a week of 22 ammo but people stand in line to buy it and it s allways the same people standing in line..most of them are just hoarding it up they dont hunt or shoot and want sell it either...walmarts here at home has plenty of shotgun and high power rifle shells but no 22 or pistol ammo on the shelf..people buy it fast as they open the boxes..i can not hardley get any kind of lead or shotgun poowder in my area..but i see plenty of powder on line at high prices... charlie

I was just at the largest gun store in my area. Plenty of powder and wads. I bought 2 boxes of 45ACP HP ammo but no 22 ammo.
