Unusual Marked Rib

As I am still new to the Parker world, I have question on a rather unusual 20 Gauge. It is a 1905 gun according to the serial # and the frame is a VH. The barrels however, are marked as Trojan Steel Barrels and are numbered to the gun. The unusual part of this is that the rib extension is of the VH design, and not the Trojan “U” shaped design and therefore fits into the top of the VH receiver. I cannot figure out why a set of barrels marked as Trojan on the rib, would have a VH rib extension? If they were Vulcan Barrels, then they would be marked so. Am I missing something?? Thanks.

Rick, their are some pictures of the barrel flats and they show no codes.

Steve, If you look closely you can see the slight difference in the rib matting where the rib extention from a V or higher grade has been afixed to thid Trojan set of barrels. The visible screw kind of gives it away also.

Thanks Dave. The seller says the "screw" is a broken bead, but I think you are correct.

20 gauge guns are way up in price. some guys will do almost anything to make some extra money. its always buyer beware. well that's how I feel about it. I didn't mean to offend any one. that's my two cents worth.

Could be that a trojan rib was put on the VH barrels. Or a Graded Dolls Head was fitted to trojan barrels.
Confirmation of the barrel flat markings will tell you better. If they are marked with an OV, they are Trojan barrels. If marked V in a circle, then they are VH barrels.

Who knows what is going on with the screw broken off there. Many of us have sadly seen ribs tapped out for iron sights or scopes. But that would mean multiple smaller holes. Yours is one bigger one pretty far back.
If you are interested in some ideas for repair. This screw hole could be filled, either with weld, or another screw. Then finished down flush. And engraver could match up the matting lines over the finished down screw and then a rust blue would hide the repair pretty nicely.
