With the right kind of TLC that one can be a gorgeous Parker. I wonder how many 20 gauge, high grade hammer Parkers survive? It can't be that many. Perhaps we'll see it restored at the Vintagers.
Best Regards, George

For a 20 gauge hammer gun in that grade, I'd bite the bullet and fix it. A good gun fixer, like the Stockfixers, can deal with that tang too. Looks like they welded a spoon on the thing.

That gun really needs to be brought back. Also Austin is looking for a 20 gauge hammergun to do some frame research. Maybe the owner will make it available to him?

We have not seen many 20 gauge hammerguns. So from a research point of view this gun is very important. Last edited on Wed May 6th, 2009 10:02 pm by Dave Suponski

Yup, before such a gun goes to the case color and barrel refinish guys, a PGCA letter would be in order. Buck would be the first to admit that he doesn't refresh engraving on any Deluxe Grade Smiths and he doesn't do any museum quality restocking of AAHE Grade guns owned by Teddy Roosevelt. By the way, I am a spoon collector and I would like to examine the spoon used to extend the top tang.

You didn't ask me...but as its an open forum I'll throw my two cents in If I had it, it would go to Turnbull for a full makeover. Its to rare and nice a gun to do it partway. Dale does the bbls then who does the stock? Cleans up the metal? Restoring a gun in this condition is like a cancer in that one thing leads to another...then another and so on.
What a great find. Sometimes you have to be in the right place at the right time. It reminds me of another PGCA member who got a D grade 16 hammergun with cut bbls for a song.

Bruce, I would read the PGCA letter, then decide.

It could make a lot of difference, Bruce, and you know it. If the original purchaser were a known personality or famous person, the restoration could be on a higher plane because of the gun's higher potential value. Last edited on Thu May 7th, 2009 01:19 pm by Bill Murphy
