I agree coming out of the closets out West. Not a Parker but a nice LC Smith A-2 Attached Image (viewed 594 times):

Thats a nice looking Smith . I have found some nice rifles out west but haven't had much luck with the shotguns. I did get a GHE 16 0 frame from Washington state a couple of years ago but thats it. I need to try harder .

As American guns go, I think the average LC Smith had engraving that was far superior to Parker and Fox and the engraving on most of their Crown grades is extrordinary. However, I never understood how LC Smith could produce such beautiful shotguns then put such gawd-awful looking pads on the end of them. I know some of the pads were put on by subsequent owners and the same goes for them.

Bruce,
At $500.00 I don't think the buyer got screwed to bad. In fact I would have paid $550.00.

I think Bruce knows the answer to his question. If the extension on the top tang had been a few inches longer and has more and larger wood screws holding it together, we wouldn't even realize the stock was cracked. It could easily be my next project. Last edited on Wed May 6th, 2009 03:34 pm by Bill Murphy

I'll take it over if he gets sick of the project. I've got a worse one than that in the hopper right now. When Doug Mann's Lindner Daly Diamond Grade two barrel set was in my possession, it also had chopped and welded tangs and no stock, as well as a flattened trigger guard. It turned out pretty nice.
