Thanks John,So to sum this up you have an 1894/95 DH 10 gauge with a pistol grip stock on a 3 frame with 28" damascus barrels and what looks to be an original recoil pad.

This gun looks to be in good original condition as stated by Bill Murphy .

There was a tag attached to the gun, I finally decided to remove it. It is in my father-in-law's hand, and it says, "do NOT load modern ammunition into this gun!", or words to that effect.  I am working hard to convince myself that this note was not intended for me.  Actually, it is so old that it was probably put on by him when he came into possession, after his father's death (I think).  At that time dirt had been invented, but it was still a novelty, not everyone had some.

My father in law is 96, he is still living in Michigan. He is a wonderful man, we have enjoyed a fun relationship over the years. He boasts a statistic that blows me away.  He and his wife (also still living, aged 93) have just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. I am 72, so I was 2 years old when they married.  I wasn't invited to the wedding.

John Dallas;

Thanks for that information, Iwill give it a try, but I am simultaneously a technophile, and technologically challenged.  That's a great combination, in actuality, because even when I am totally lost, I am having a really great time!!

John Dallas,

I took some close up photos of my gun, and tried to follow the instructions as provided in the link you gave me, and it all seemed to go quite well, but the pictures never got anywhere, near as I can tell.  The little bar gadget filled in as though the pictures were being sent, but it appears they went into never never land. Probably there was a groan from the inhabitants of never never land, lamenting the fact that I had once again unloaded stuff into their turf, a lot of what I do on the computer makes it's way into never never land.  Anyone interested enough to give me an e-mail address will get a set of the pictures.

I have mailed a check for membership in this group, mostly because I have had such a fabulous response to my inquiry into my gun.  I have had great fun reading the comments and thoughts. Every response is appreciated, thanks to one an all.

As I told my wife, "I ain't had this much fun since the pigs ate my brother!"

Dave or anyone.........

If Mr. Raviolo's #82958 is too early for a 1 1/2 frame, what is the earliest known? I have the barrels of #85047 and they are 1 1/2 frame.

Travis,From the sampling of guns I have seen the 1 1/2 frame starts to show up around 1898/1899.I don,t know if this had anything to do with the introduction of the Vulcan gun or not.

If it would help I can take a picture of the lug, where the number "3" is visible. I spent yesterday reading in the technical sections, and it appeared to me that the frame size is a function of calibre, mine is clearly a ten gauge, I happened to have a 12 gauge 00 buckshot shell on the shelf of my safe, and it  all but fell through the bore of my Parker.

I will get e righteous appraisal of my gun for insurance purposes, but it wouldn't hurt to have the opinions of members of the PGCA to back that up, so feel free to wade in with your opinion of my guns value.  It is not for sale. I lived in Seattle in the late 60's, and used to go to Eddie Bauer's and look at the Parker shotguns.  I didn't have a clue what I was looking at, or what I was seeing, I just knew they were the prettiest guns I had ever seen.  I didn't have the money at that time in my life to buy one, so I dreamed.  My dream has come true, and I have a Parker.  I can go look at it anytime I want. WOW!!

Once again, I would like to thank everyone who has waded in on my inquiry. I am blown away, because of the response. I have sent a check for membership, mostly because of my appreciation for the time and thought that has gone into responses to my inquiry

That looks like a very nice unmolested 10ga that just needs a bit of TLC.. I see a crack on the left stock cheek but the bbls, screws, checkering and engraving look to be in excellent condition. Nice acquisition John. We all love our D grade guns. Don't let Obama see this one; he might want it for his personal collection!
