SO...I've found for sale a 1928 CHE, 1 1/2 frame, 12 Bore, 28" bbls, Full / Mod, in great shape. However, seems the former owner in years passed had the "E" taken out and it no longer resides with the gun, now just a CH (is that possible).
INCORRECT STATEMENT...just talked to the guy and the "E" is there, so it is a CHE.
Asking price is $6500 and my inner deamon says buy it and run for the hills, thoughts??
Thanks,
Brian

Value depends on the condition of the gun which cannot be determined without detailed photos.

Bruce,
I corrected my statement. I found the gun on the internet and read the post above it regarding the ejectors, so those comments didn't apply to this gun. This CHE looks to be in great shape and everything is in working order...$6500 out the door?? Thoughts?
Here's a pic..

Well I saw you had. If the gun was in good condition and is not butchered, chopped or otherwise "improved" , I'd be running to the door with $6500 in cash. Mind you , I haven't seen the gun in photos or in person, but if a person told me he had a nice C and was asking $6500 I'd be running not walking and not trying to seem too anxious and hoping I wouldn't be disappointed.
Late 20's C grades are special, actually most C's are. I somewhat specialize in C's and I never get tired of them.
Brian, the parts shown in the photo look nice, but of course there is lots more to the gun, but I'd be ordering the gun in for inspection.

I wouldn't be walking. Be nice if it had a skeleton butt, however a C at D or G prices is not a bad deal regardless of what it has.
A word of caution; when you are buying an expensive Parker, a person needs to be able to identify poorly restocked and chopped barrel guns. I'm not saying this is, but a person needs to do his homework and read and understand the PArker Story before writing big checks. That's my thought anyway, I know others quite frequently don't.
Brian, you have Mike Poindexter, Paul Driscoll, Paul Narlesky and that high end gun and fishing store in Denver, and those guys know their Parkers, when you get it, wouldn't hurt to run it by them. Oh, and there's a gunsmith out at Kiowa Creek that is supposed to know his stuff. Never met him, but heard of him.

Everything I see so far on this C tells me you got a great deal.
By the way, I don't suppose you know my old friend Herb Seymour who has a house on the Frying Pan outside Basalt? He is doing paintings now and exhibits at some gallery in Basalt.

Brian, I think I remember this gun does it have D type stock engraving as opposed to the standard C? The one I remember had 30 inch acme barrels. Regards Ron

Looks like Brian will be in need of a letter. Or was it common to have D grade checkering on a C. My CH was ordered without a checkered forearm and a checkered butt.

Its not common, but it does happen. I have a Bernard CHE with original extraordinary wood. It has D straight grip checkering and correct Parker checkered cheeks. When the TG tang is lifted, the SN is there and a grade number 3.

Brian looks like D type. What I remember most was the gorgeous wood and those nice acme barrels. This is one I am sure I will regret having passed on, heck I already do. Regards Ron

Why did you pass when the opportunity presented itself?? Anything that steered you away??
I can't wait for it to arrive, two weeks of pheasant shooting left.

Brian, price was substantially higher at the time and I was really looking for another hammer gun. If as you say your looking for a shooter, I do not think you can go wrong. What impressed me also was how sleek it was. I am not an expert by any means but a lot of times you loose the scale of things from pics when posted. This is a sleek little C wand and I can well understand why your counting the minutes till it arrives. Regards Ron

You'll like the gun.
Here's another, a 12ga 28" CHE at 7lbs. Some people, including me, like the straight grip guns for being sleek and fast.
