Very nice Trojan.I think the primary concern about a Parker of this age is the wood and possible damage to 1927 vintage stock wood from recoil of heavier loads. This gun should be treated carefully due to its high condition;enjoy but preserve.

While Mr. Rather's words of caution may be well advised, a Parker twelve gauge Trojan on a #2 frame is a very stout gun and will digest about any standard field load off the shelf except "heavy" target of field loads and "magnum" loads. Certainly the lighter loads with lower pressures manufactured for older guns are better for continuous use but if you want to use some more conventional ammo to kill a turkey or a few ducks and geese from time to time, you shouldn't be afraid to do so, but again, stay away from the heavy stuff. Yours is in extremely nice condition and if it were mine, it would not be my everyday shooter. . . of course you will need to pick up another Parker for your "everyday shooter" so, you see, it doesn't stop with just one Parker

I wouldn't be afraid of modern shells in this if it were mine especially for hunting as Dean mentioned. If I were to take it out for a day of clays I'd use some RST low pressure loads in it just to save on my shoulder which is coming up on vintage age as well .

Thanks for all the info. I am pretty sure this will not be my last Parker and this is not my only gun so it will not get abused. I really only hunt upland, mostly #5 shot, some areas allow lead, some do not. In the ones which require "non toxic" , I take one of my "modern" guns.
