I have the opportunity to buy an AHE 10ga, with 3 1/2" chambers but "The Book" says the gun is a 12ga with totally different specs ... If my memory is correct, 10ga gins with 3 1/2" chambers are pretty scarce in all grades and super scarce in the AHE grade ... Does anyone know many AHE 10ga, 3 1/2" guns were made ... And what can anyone tell me about them ?

The "specs" on the gun are as follows:   10ga. AHE with ejectors -- 32" Acme Steel barrels -- Dual ivory beads -- Chokes .031 & .034 -- #3 frame -- Barrel flats are marked 3 1/2" -- Watertable marked A, 6 -- Non automatic safety --- Skeleton butt plate -- Splinter forearm -- Gold triggers --- 90% blue -- 60% case colors --- Nicely figured walnut wood with nice finish and a few hunting scratches ---

I have a few photos of the gun that I'll email to someone who will post them here on the PGCA site for me.

Thanks guys ... Jim Kucaba ... Phoenix AriZOOna Cactus Patch ...

Not many 3 1/2" 10ga Parkers around, some like Destry's GH were rebarreled 12 ga #3 frames and a few were factory made in the late 1930's. If the book states it's a completely different spec'ed gun (is the serial # even an AH?) and with the condition you quote, I'd be looking for a possible upgrade and/or a short ten with chamber lengthening. Check the barrel wall thickness at the chamber/cone junction. The 3 1/2" stamp is on the side of the lug on the later guns. You never know...Good luck.

Looks pretty darn nice and pretty "real" to me...Canada geese beware...but very late (Remington)number but early safety push, with long top lever, space on left side of "fish bone" barrel markings...get a letter...

Many years ago,Alex Kerr of Kerr's in Beverly Hills, wrote of using a AHE or AAHE 10 bore with 3 1/2 chambers. I believe it was in a Sports Afield magazine.I wonder if it is the same gun.My memory says it was probably written in the late 60's or early 70's in an article about Mr. Kerr's career.

Jim, good luck bidding on this gun. This is one that was shown around several years ago at a PGCA meeting and is owned by a well known West Coast collector.  Its been talked up and many have seen it on the Greg Martin Auction website with its suggested price of $40,000 to $60,000.

Its been on the coast , and likely is one of the Kerr guns.

Sounds like you are serious about being in play for it, and good luck.

But is it straight up? That's the real question here.

That safety slide sure looks like it belongs on a VH or PH, not on a Quality 6 gun, and the shape of it is out of period for the gun.  I'd sure want to see what the PGCA research service says about that serial number before I spent big bucks.  It is not listed in the table of Quality 6 guns in Volume Two of The Parker Story.  I think I smell fish!!

Before I buy a $50,000 Parker, I always spend $40 on a PGCA letter.  At least the last seven or eight times I have (wink).  The gun should be well described in Stock Book #76 which is in the PGCA research files.  Pay forty bucks, get the straight poop, no fuss, no muss.  Good luck, Jim.

The "Book" indicates that 238889 is a VHE 12 gauge with capped pistol grip and 32" barrels with single trigger, vent rib and large forearm. The rib on the Parker shown appears not to have the blank spot at the muzzle. The rib lettering looks off center as well.

I can't remember ever seeing a Remington Parker with the engraved "No" signifying "number" engraved before the serial number on the trigger guard strap. For those who have looked at a lot more Remington Parkers, what is your experience on this? Can't figure out the safety slide either. I have seen early (pre-1917) safety slides on later, even Remington guns, but never on a high grade gun.

Did all Remington Parkers have Parker engraved on the floor plate? Or was that only the lower grades?
