Actually, we are arranging a marriage for DH with a resident of the Walpole Island Indian Reservation in Ontario. Her name is Molly and she is quite a nice gal but much more importantly both her brother and her father are duck guides. The significance of the latter point can not be underestimated as her grandfather still carves decoys as well...This will not only give DH access to tribal (wet)lands but also to the Canadian health care system. I'm pretty sure they will grow quite fond of one another...;)

Derrick;

I know DH well enough that at this phase in his life, marriage is not going to happen based on the premis of interfearing with his layed out duck hunting plans he has intentions of doing for the next 15/20 years. More guts than I in this reguard.

Destry, you could make yourself more welcome over there if you offered to take out their daughters. We could provide the beer as a peace offering to the L C Smith folks. I'm informed the Hatfield/McCoy feud ended through intermarriage and this may be an opportunity. Of course that would not prevent the Native American marriage with the Indian girl in Ontario. Roger Giles may be able to obtain some parking lot rings.

Destry shot my 1906 A5 like they were old friends they looked great together.  Destry, if you ever do a proper "market" hunt with your punt gun I'll ship the A5 to you for dispatching the dozens of cripples.

Yuengling....I'll have a couple of cases in the back of my truck at the "Southern" for when you boys put your guns in the rack.

You boys are just too good to me.

Now why the hell would I want a wife holding me back from my gunning?

I've seen what being married has done to a lot of my long time shooting companions and it ain't pretty.

I'll stick to dallying with the ladies in the off season thank you very much.

Now if I could find me an Indian woman over there on Walpole and she didn't insist on cohabitation, only wanted to spend time during the duck season or maybe when the walleye were running in the river. And if her last name was Sands and if her daddy was the head guide at the St. Anne Club......

I might change my mind.

Destry,

Beware, I’m sure I’m sufficiently enough older than you to invoke the Parker Proverb - “Never say never!”

Bob,

Good to see you back on the BBS, check your private mailbox.

I never said never. But the only bands I'm looking for are aluminum and they only come on waterfowl legs, they're sure not gold and on no woman's finger.

Destry;

That Indian Princess's dad was my guide on several Walpole hunts but I don't think Rocky has a daughter of the proper age for you to work your ever so slight Cherokee charms upon. However, you have the right idea in the seasonal type of romance but do it good enough that I'll be included in the attained hunting rights to St. Annes Island.

I might add that it was one of the clubs in the Walpole region that George Romney's wife was pinched for a duck violation probably 25/30 years ago.

Have a nice Easter with your parents, Roger

This is a great thread.  I can see it now.  destry is hunting and out of the lake comes a beutifully tan skinned femail of the 2 legged veriety, with an alluminum band around one leg.  She has a parker big bore under one arm and a bag of ducks in the other.

It happens to the best of men.

A lady shouldn't carry anything larger than a 16 gauge, unless of course she was carrying my gun. And how about my lunch in that sack instead of ducks. I'll tote the ducks.....

The ads in the Personals columns in all the Ontario and Michigan small town papers will read:

"Girl wanted between the ages of twenty and forty for fun and hard work. Must be adept at settin' blocks, polin' and scullin', loadin' and keepin' low, pluckin' and guttin', carvin' and paintin', cookin' and drinkin' and jes bein' bawdy. Must have her own gun cleanin' kit, sneak boat, decoys, and pick-up truck. No intimate experience necessary. . . will train. Please send picture of waterfowl trappin's." :shock:

Perhaps the dowry would include a couple hundred pounds of lead and bismuth shot, which at today's prices....

Not to be piling on to Mr. Destry; but I hope he insists the pickup be a F-250, and that said applicant can do mechanical repairs to keep it in good running order......and what about a trailer to haul the boat?

Quite a few years ago I saw a string of decoys and a sign hanging on a friends garage wall on Gibson Island,Md. , the sign read: New wives and a steady job has ruined many a good duck hunter.....Have a Great Easter...RW

Hey guys, leave Destry alone. He has enough trouble beating off the wemens who are after him now. Think what would happen if the “real” word got out. Why he could be inundated with hundreds of ladies all after his.......... Oh, never mind. (If the big day ever happens I wanna be there) Jack

Don;
There you go.........a gal who is shade in the summer, and heat in the winter.
That is, as long as she has an abundance of the earlier stated qualities.

When you plan to start up a sinkbox operation, as DH and I do, it's important to have the right people at hand. Esprit d'corps, unit cohesion, etc. As we know, the wrong "Molly" could end a valiant effort in shambles. Hence DH's choice of a mate can not be left to mere chance or too much beer. It requires adult intervention and pre-emptory action...
