They are all Parker Bros. makers, Meriden CT side-by-side double barreled shotguns. Please send $20 for a more detailed description of each. Thank you. KBM

Is there any info on the serialization book about these guns- grade, barrel length etc. They are at a small auction. I would get a letter if I won, but wanted to see if I could get any info before then.

If you had the Serialization book you could take advantage of all the hard work a lot of Parker people performed to compile it.

Alex,
We've been through this before. Folks the auction company site is http://www.rowellauctions.com. Alex thinks that we'll assist him with his acquisitions, and remain in the dark. BTW, the 20 gauge from East Dennis turn out to be a $4000 gun. I chased the checkering, touched up the barrels, and stock. Its a sweet 0 frame with 30" fluid barrels and 50% case color. You should get a serialization book.
Phil

I like the 3400 acres. Has that been sold yet? I might have room for my "stuff" if I bid successfully on that piece. PH, 0, GH. That doesn't tell you much, but I agree with the other posters. If you want to be a player (this auction would be that place, I'm sure you will see some big gold chains worn there), spend the big bucks on research material. $34.95 shipping included. Thanks for the help guys. Its always great when a teen is trying to get help with doubles and the older wiser guys reach out to help without sarcasism and bitterness.
Thanks Destry and Dean (as well as a few other guys I got to exchange words with) for being truly nice guys, and taking the time to educate me. I Don't expect I will ever be back here.
Good Luck to you all.

If you show up at the Baltimore Show or the Southern and introduce yourself, I'll give you a Serialization Book. Start your research file now. By the time you're my age, it will be the envy of the membership. Your first piece of research will be to print this thread so I can't back out of the deal. This is just a young dude that's interested in guns. I can remember when I was in the same place. Low on funds, wanting good stuff. Old hands helped me willingly and that was awhile before the internet.
Phil you have less tact than I do, and that's saying something. I'm glad you've never sent in your membership fee for the PGCA. We don't need anymore of that kind of attitude in the group. Hopefully they'll never start taking them online, then you'll stay away forever. I'm ashamed to know that you're a fellow Illinoisan.

Phil-
Sorry for wasting your time and inconvienincing you. Congrats on getting a nice Parker from the East Dennish auction. She should be a good bird killer. I'm not trying to screw anyone or pull a fast one- simply trying to learn about something I find interesting.
Destry-
I hope someday I will have the pleasure of gunning with you.

Seriously, if you can afford to even think about buying any Parker gun at auction, you should WANT to get the book(s) and learn a little about the guns instead of relying on others for basic facts. Leaving your Serialization book at home is one thing and not having the book at all is quite another. Besides, Kevin knows to call Murphy or me when he needs a number checked Last edited on Wed Jan 24th, 2007 08:14 pm by Don Kaas

I have never called Eightbore for a SN so far as I can remember. I just hold the floorplate up to my forehead like "The Great Karnak" and will the information on the gun into my psyche. KBM

Alex, I think your posts on this thread exemplify why we should keep an open mind. You, the next generation of Parker lovers and collectors should be taken under wing and given assistance when it is requested.
And for everyone else reading this, a couple of the posts responding to Alex's request exemplify the reason that some people on other forums refer to us as stuck up snobs. I think we should be doing everything we can to allay that opinion.
Once again, just my HO, Dean

You guys are being pretty hard on me after I not only told him what he wanted to know but offered to give him a book. Bite me.

Bill, my comments were aimed more at Phil than you as I know by now that your comments are frequently tongue-in-cheek, which is better than foot-in-mouth.

Oh, rats, Frank, I thought I could make someone mad. I guess you're on to me. However, we should all know that Kevin only uses the Johnny Carson method of serial number searches because, unlike Mr. Kaas and myself, Kevin doesn't buy every broken down project gun that he runs across. Anyone who wants to sell a Parker to Mr. McCormack has to provide him with a PGCA letter before any checks are written.
