To spin off Eric's suggestion, have the first year illustrate Parkers that Oscar brought back to life,

I agree..."first edition" should be Oscar's guns...with appropriate verbage.

Suggestions for a reformatted "second edition" (2007):

Cover... front and back with  large Parker Logo on front... and a reinforced hole to hang calendar. (no holes punched in the photos...)

Top page: One of twelve  8" X 10" color photos...(thin border optional)... outdoor background or actual hunting scene...as free from clutter as possible...ie no 4-wheelers!  Foreground...Parker gun...dog and a max 2-3 bird/duck/goose limit...ie not a pile of birds.  Could include vintage vehicle if originally made during the Parker era.  Exceptions...possible.

Bottom page: At top... a horizontal close-up of the Parker gun on a neutral background... and a few words of provinence/description etc.  Immediately below top...Month... calendar dates... with some Parker events pre printed... if known?  With detachable lined extra pages for notes...(no sense in ruining a perfect work of art!)  Smaller Parker Logo on one side of Month....ie

(logo) DECEMBER 2007.

An annual contest: A single (best) photo of hunting scene and a single (best) close-up of the Parker Gun used...to be submitted by any paid-up member at any time.  BOD to decide 12 winners annually.  Each winner to receive 12 calendars at no cost as full compensation...the rest of us PAY...to offset cost of production and postage as a minimum.  Extra copies available (at cost) to new members who want to have a complete set.  Slip covers with Parker Logo... to hold and protect 5? calendars...available for sale.  Highly collectable...

It might be possible to sell PGCA calendars to the general public...for purpose of attracting new members...reducing costs...send a "best of 12" winning member on an all expense paid trip to Africa for Sand Grouse...whatever.

In the end...if done right...these calendars become part of PGCA legacy.

Pete

For lack of something else to stir up the Parker Gun Collectors stew pot, has any follow up to getting this calendar concept off the ground? And if not why? The idea is just too good to have it disappear into the sunset.

I agree this is a very good idea.  I also think the bound Parker Pages would be a nice item if there is enough interest.

I think it's a good idea myself, I've heard a couple individual people talk about doing it privately even.

You could have a theme every year, just like the annual meeting.

A good one (in my personal opinion) would be vintage images of guys with Parker guns. Myself, Chris, and EDM would be places to get them if everybody was willing. I know I am of course.

I've got a ladyfriend that's interested in doing some shots with vintage shotguns if you change your mind Bruce. And she's even got curb appeal to more than just me. She's quite svelt I assure you. *wink*

The calendar sounds like a really good idea. I personally would buy at least two each year one for home & one for the office. If it was offered for sale at all the events that the PGCA participates in, this would be a good way to generate revenue for the PGCA.

What does it take to get something like this off the ground??  Since I am a new member im not sure what all is involved to get something like this implemented.

Destry, so she is more of a 20 gauger than an 8?

There are various issues to the calendar. I think it would be nice and I'll see if others are interested.  But the possibility of one of Destry's girls posing behind a strategically placed 8 ga is intriguing. Would she have on any camo?

According to Destry's ideal dimensions of his type of GIRL it would take a bore of greater than a #4 and I have no knowledge of #0000 or #0000000 bore sizes that may approach the proper ratio for the mentioned photo.

Thanks for the boost on the calender idea Destry as we need such an eye grabber at the Southern, sort of a one up on the LC crowd if you please thus perhaps bending their minds and shooting abilities in our favor.

BTW I have met one of the girls from Destry's stable and she is as pretty as a puppy and well endowed. Destry's taste is not of the ugly genre, just large. So go for it Destry!

Roger, did you get any good buys at the Baltimore Show?  I remember you saying that you were headed that way.

Bruce,

She might be more of a 16 gauge but no larger.

She would have on nothing but what God gave her of course. *double wink*

What say we quit the snide girlie remarks (which I am plenty guilty of ) and get this calendar idea back in a forward motion again.

Bruce, you started this calendar idea this time around and you are on the BOD,  therefore, how about putting it into some kind of a orginized forum so progress can begin. I'm sure there are those with expertize for this project that will help but somehow must be identified or step forward and volunteer their services. I would bet your cousin Pete Day is all loaded and cocked and ready to step in and apply his skills to this project. You can thank me later Pete.

What the hell there is only twelve months to a calendar and there are way more than this number of qualified Parkers available and the paper mills have already made enough paper today to cover this project so whats the hold up?
