Proper use of firearms terms is important for everyone to understand and I am glad you brought it up.

I have been a firearms instructor for 35 years and when I teach a class, part of the learning process is in the terminolgy. There is no reason for any one to drop "f" bombs in what was a polite discourse and perhaps a learning experience for other members of the forum who are not as well versed in the correct language.

My comment was meant to explain the difference between "clip" and "magazine", a common mistake I see in print media, not to throw stones.

I did not "ASK" for an explanation, just used as a term in the conversation. I was in the Army 11 Bravo, grunt, ground pounder its a phrase.

So this morning i woke to see a message from the Admin, which I told him you guy's are the ones that are carrying this subject on and on. I don't give two cents about, you call it a tomatoe, I'll call it a tomato.
Again is was used in an off the cuff statement.
So can we just stop all of this.
Or would you two like me to leave the group, because I don't talk you guy's

I have an old thread on it with the target, but I'm not going to look for it. I wasn't shooting for accuracy, just for functionality.

Well now I'm glad others are able to target practice as I'm awaiting delivery.
As stated before, this is coming completely unassembled, so my biggest hope is, this guy didn't know how to operate a screw driver as well as he didn't know how to reassemble this P-38 and I only have min. work needed done on the frame.

I only ran 14 rounds with the AC42, and I haven't fired it since and have no intentions of firing it again. I just wanted to make sure it ran properly, and it did. I also ran a small amount through my BYF44 and polished blue 67. Since then, the 44 and 67 have been sold.

Here in Europe collectors often use subsonic ammo for older guns (P.38, P.08....). Never heard of problems.

Well mine had parts in it that were nor suppose to be in it.
The part of the frame that was bent was the back handle
and what I did was run the magazine catch up the length of it, as it's the same size
this took out most of the bend.
Replaced the Safety Lowering lever with an original (Not what was in it.
A new Sear was the reason for it not cocking all the way back.
a new firing pin spring and a vary good cleaning.
Everything seemed good, fully cock, slide worked as it should.
So I took two magazines out to the backyard.
1st Mag. 1 round fired as should locked the slide to the rear.
2nd Mag 4 rounds, rapid fire and locked slide to the rear when all were spent.
Total cost of P-38 and part $215.00
All Original AC 42

I shoot my ac42 once a year, with 8 rounds of original German WWII ammo. Then it gets cleaned thoroughly and put back into the safe.

For shooting during every range outing, I take my 1979 P1, or the P1 I built on a refinished ac45 frame, or that same ac45 frame with a slide and short barrel assembly (the same slide and barrel in my avatar photo - it gets a lot of looks at the range).
