It is a 12, Jack. Overall, it looks somewhat unmolested. The wood appears to be proud and the screw heads look unbuggered. I was very impressed with the internal workings of my 1896 and 1903 'G' Grades, which is one of the reasons I wanted another Lefever. The sears are suspended in the receiver, so, the cocking indicators are the only parts on the sideplates. Extractors and little to no engraving are two qualities I admire in a double, so this gun is just the ticket. It has the same safety set-up and adjustable ball joint as the higher grades, too.

Lefevers are a wonderful addiction ,I picked one up a while ago with a busted buttstock and I'm in the process of a restock(between paying job's )..the barrel's on mine are 30" Damascus with a min wall thickness of around 70 thou, the heaviest barrel's I've ever seen

Not sure exactly , I'll weigh them when I get a chance...but in a word ,HEAVY!,the gun came with sling swivels attached and my first instinct was to remove them, but as time wore on I realized this will never be an all day carry type gun ,it's more of a over your shoulder and walk to the blind gun.
The unfortunate thing about this project was that the original forestock was in great shape but a very dark piece of walnut,so the butt will have to be stained to match and that's something I hate to do on a piece of wood with any figure ,as you always seem to loose a little something in the process |
