Default Some 1st of the Year Clays

Started the New Year of right with a round of clays. It was a beautiful day in Rhode Island. I wanted to try some 12 gauge B&P 7/8oz. 2 3/4oz shells.

I believe I saw Breck Gorman post about how he liked them and Breck also refinished the barrels on this 1887 #1 frame 32” twist barrel fish tail hammer gun. I really like these shells in this gun. I also shot some 1oz loads as well. No issues with shell length and the gun shot very well.

This afternoon was a good reminder of how a lower grade gun can bring a lot of joy. This gun is choked IC/F and a lot of fun to shoot.

A great start to 2023!

I don't think there is any such thing as a lower grade Parker when it comes to quality of work...and greatness of pleasure in using the gun.

Well done!

We had our annual hangover shoot at Rochester Brooks today. Beautiful weather for the first of January no snow and 40 degrees. Shot my Grade 1 TLH gun with Lam barrels, 30" 12ga with great dimensions. Big Fun! I'm pretty sure I had the oldest gun on the course LOL! Now if the winter weather would only stay snow free and mild. Our club does have an heated indoor 5 stand which we shoot every Wednesday night in the winter league. Kinda nice.

I had planned on hunting this AM and this afternoon , however the battery in my ATV pooped the bed Friday so I went to the local Kawasaki dealer for a new one ! Their response yes we have them , okay give me a charged one . None were charged , alright charge it to night I’ll be back Saturday morning , no we’re closed . Okay are you open Monday , no that’s our normal closed day . So I’ll go get my $120 ATV battery Tuesday !
