Please check the 'Shotguns', 'FAQ', and 'Photo Trail' here Tom http://www.lcsmith.org/index.html
You can determine the grade - should have a number (pre-1913) or letter (post-1913) beneath the serial number on the receiver, date of manufacture - about 1904, and how to obtain a research letter from the LCSCA http://www.lcsmith.org/shotguns/researchdivision.html

Francis: Is it possible to determin the ga. by measuring between the firing pins. It seems to be a great condition receiver and i think that some one would be able to do something with it. I,m sorry Francis but how do i send you a personel message. Thanks again for your reply. Thomas L. Benson Sr.
