Thanks very much David. 14/16 translates (or converts) to .8750" so your measurement of .820" is even closer together than I would have thought subtracting 1/16" from the 00-Frame size. Anyone else? .

I found something online from a Shotgunworld.com discussion on frame sizes. The following excerpt was likely penned from our own researcher Dave Noreen in Sept. 2010:
"When the 28-gauge was introduced, they were built on the 20-gauge's 0-frame. Actually there is a good body of evidence that Parker Bros. took a bunch of 20-gauge guns that were languishing in inventory, and fitted them with 28-gauge barrels and moved some inventory. Later they added the 00-frame with a 15/16 inch firing pin spacing for a lighter weight 28-gauge then the early guns. Finally, circa 1926, they introduced the 000-frame with a 13/16 inch spacing for the .410-bore. " That 13/16 works out to .812 inch. |

Again, Thanks David, that sheds even more info on the topic. If it was indeed written by Dave Noreen there is no reason to doubt it.

TPS, page 527 I think, is a more complete reference for frame dimensions than The Serialization Book.
