I think one of my Repro 28 cases is smaller than the other. I'll have to check later on this evening.

Thanks for all the information.
Kenny, if I understood correctly, the outside dimensions of 28" barrel length cases would all be the same. The barrel section would be narrower for a 28 gauge than a 20 gauge and 20 gauge snap caps would not fit into the 28 gauge snap cap fitment. Is that correct? I have a straight grip stock and I can see the cut out for the pistol grip stock. Thanks, Mike |

Kenny can chime in if he wants, but I've owned 4-28 ga Repros, and all had loose fitting barrels and snap caps. For the money, these cases were a wonderful touch when these guns came out, but I don't think they felt there was enough difference between the 28 and 20 gauges to warrant the extra expense of having each case custom fit to all the gauges. That is the impression I got when I spoke to Jack Skeuse of Reagent Chemical, years ago, about this very issue.

Barrel compartment width is the same....snap cap holes are fitted to the gauge...28 or 20 I have cases that the 28ga. caps fit tight. During the close out... cases got seperated from the guns and anything could of happend? Some 16ga. snap caps have serfaced at jeffs outfitters just recently, Found in a box at the closed Cape outfitters offices.....lost from the close-out guns. I called Jeff and perchased my sets...(-: thanks all SXS ohio...(-:

I just went and measured the cases that my two 28 ga. Repros came in.
28 ga. snap caps fit rather loosely in the holes for them so I really can't comment on what gauge the cases were made for but 12 ga. snap caps certainly will not fit the holes. The case that my straight grip, splinter forend gun came in is 30 1/4" long, 7 1/4" wide, 3 3/8" deep. The case that Kathy's pistol grip, beavertail forend gun came in is 28 3/8" long, 7 1/4" wide and 3 1/8" deep. These measurements are all outside measurements. Both guns have 26" barrels. These measurements do not include the leather corner reinforcement patches. Both sets came with the canvas cover which fit their respective cases perfectly. Opinions?? |
