Hold the top lever to the right and push down on the lever in the pic with a pen or a small screw driver, does not take much. This will release pressure on the top lever allowing it to go to the center position.

Tripping back the lever is VERY important on any double as to avoid damage. Especially when shipping a gun.
Parker hang tags (which were originally on each gun when new) had instructions on how to trip back the lever for storage.

Right on...I always store my shotguns, even my modern break guns, with top lever tripped back.
