Default Parker Shell Top Case

Made recently as a replica of an original Parker Shell Top Case and using the original hardware. These are in the 1882 catalog.

Two cases have been completed and are owned by collectors , another should be finished within a couple weeks and the fourth is being started.

The last photos show the original case. The leather and stitching was deteriorated and could not be redone.

If a person wants one for a high grade hammer gun, they are handmade from premium materials, the fittings are handmade and priced accordingly. A Pakistani case of cheap leather could be bought much more inexpensively. PM me if you are serious and I'll refer you to the maker.

Bruce, I can't figure out where the receiver goes in the new case. These are beautiful.

Bill
i am guessing all the shots show the barrel tray in place

the stock/receiver go under that

you can see the outline of the trigger guard and lower stock line in the divider in the bottom

Ok, The top has all the shells in it. A panel swings up and secures to close off the shell top. The bottom has the z shaped part where the back half the gun goes upright and the long area is where the barrel goes. It is a loose fit. If loaded with shells and reloading devices, plus the gun, it is heavy. We could quibble about the efficiency of the design, but it is authentic. The case is not real sturdy, maybe that's why it is about impossible to find an original in good condition.

I should have one at the Southern, with a C Bernard hammer inside, or maybe Gary can bring his.

My #38 shellback case does not have a tray. Everything is on one level as Bruce describes. I've never seen one where the gun goes vertically. Of course, like Bruce also says, "There aren't many still out there.", so it is hard to find one to compare.
