Default What do you think??

These bbls are for a DHE 20ga with 26 inch bbls. The reserch letter states it left the factory with 30inch bbls. Can you cut 4 inches of the end of the bbls and still have the tubes touch at the end?? It is still choked sk in/sk out.
This gun was redone by DelGreco a while back. What say you??

Gosh Angel, those barrels appear to be their original length to my eyes. If they are not now as they left the factory it's my guess that someone filed the rib matting off at the end of the rib, the factory records are wrong or the research letter is wrong.

Angel,
If it has been refinished by Larry D. there is a good chance they could have fitted antoher set of barrels, and re-numbered them to the gun. Not a chance of cutting off 4" and having the barrels touch, you would also loose the blank spot at the end of the rib, and have very little to no choke. There is a chance it's a factory repair, but we may never know.

I agree with Chris T. The DelGregos did this sort of thing a lot as long as their barrel stash lasted. Unfortunately, the fashion in those days was for stubby barrels. Buy a set of the 30" Galazan barrels for it, Angel and have a 2 barrels set.

I ordered a set of the 30" 20g barrels for my family DHE 0 frame 16g with 26" Titanics. I hope they fit. My buddy Russ yesterday at the Vintagers bought a cracking very late GHE 26" 20g 0 frame in its original A&F VC case. He was carrying around a set of original Parker Special Steel 32" 20g GHE barrels he had picked up locally a few weeks ago. He was looking for an appropriate GHE home for them...in one of the rarer instances of shotgun kismet they "snicked" right on the GHE including the usually problematic doll's head. After a few minor adjustments to fore end fit, he'll have a 26"/32" two barrel 20g GHE set...nice...
