Default Leg-O-Mutton case

I've noticed that many of the old Parkers were cased in a Leg-O-Mutton leather case. Most of the cases I have noticed had a brass plack for initials on the side of them. Was this a Parker Product or was it somenone else's case? If it was a Parker case how can you tell if it is original?

TPS shows the only original Parker cases. Check Vol II for the cases.

Leg of Mutton cases are period correct but are not Parker products. Even those cases that are shown in the Parker catalog were not made by Parker and are not Parker marked. A month ago or so I showed an original Parker trunk case and its new copy.

Some LOM cases had plaques, others didn't.

If you want a period correct case, which is the best you can do, get an older LOM or an A&F VC trunk case. The LOMs can be had for maybe $200 to 400 in good condition, an A&F VC case the going price is $600 give or take. Poor condition cases are trouble to repair.

I have done lots of photos of cases here and you might want to search for those.

Many Parker buyers at the time also opted for canvas and leather cases.
