If your going to go with the recoil pad I have used the Silvers pad which is available from Galazan. I recently had a CHE restocked and I wanted to use a ssbp. To buy the metal, engrave it, blue it and fit it to the gun would run around $1000. I went with a checkered butt and couldn't be more ppleased.

Thanks, Seeing that Im thinking a good recoil pad may look just fine. I think that they need to sell insurance to Parker collectors in case they have to go to the gunsmith.

Pads and Plates
Fitting a new ssbp will require shortening the pull about half an inch. Parker was installing pads in 1891; the original English Silvers survives. If you need to stretch the stock, Galazan has a 1 1/2 inch pad.

Im fortunate that they didnt cut down the stock much when the put the pad on I have. (I know because the ssbp spur is still there. After looking at the website I think the pad that was on it is the remenants of a very old silvers so I think youve all given me great advise. I cant really understand what the difference is between the 75 dollar silvers and the 29.99 pad other than Its larger

$75 is the original Silvers from England I think, the other is a reproduction. I have used the repo on several guns. Looks good and works just fine.

Dave you remember correctly, the Repo pad is softer then the original Silvers pad, the original Silvers pad is about a soft as a plain checkered butt...! Eric
