I didn't give much thought to hammerguns then and don't recall what you shot just that you shot well. Wasn't that the year you won an event?

I do remember Marks gun however. A grade 3 12 with fluid steel barrels,
tightly choked. I believe Turnbull had done the metalwork.

Rich,

I did win that event with the 20 as well as the 10 gauge hammer gun challange and I was real proud of it until I realised that I was the only one shooting in those two compititions!

The Parker I saw of Marks was a 20 gauge hammergun with fluid steel barrels and I think it was a D grade. Wayne's little 20 makes my heart go pitty pat....

I could be mistaken as to the guage but I do remember it was a nice hammergun. I have now heard of four 20ga hammer guns. I lucked out and adopted a 16ga lifter on the 0 frame last year but a 20 hammer gun would be nice.

With the resurgence in interest in the hammerguns I bet you wouldn't be the only entrant in those events again.

Rich, the 1905 hammer gun may well have been one of the last, but my little 0 frame 16 is "The Last" smallbore hammer gun to come out of Meriden, in 1917. It is serial number 172,662. Great gun you have, Wayne.

Puglisi's, our local emporium, has a ton of Parkers, including quite a few 8 bores. That is quite the difference in size from your 20!

Default Last Exposed Hammer

Bill; Please send a discription of that gun to Josh; I think the latest exposed hammer we have is in the 159000 serial range.

Best, Austin

This "last graded hammer gun", "last 16 gauge hammer gun" and "last production hammer gun" was on display at the PGCA annual meeting when we had the 16 gauge theme display. This was 2008 or 2009. #172,662 is a very nice straight grip gun originally built with 27" Damascus barrels. I'm sure Josh will monitor this thread.

Hi Guys,

I'll get the number posted. Thanks for sharing and bringing the 16ga gun that slipped past our radar in 2008 to our attention!

Keep 'em comin'.....
