Default RST shells

I love RST shells!
I have shot them exclusively for several years and
have never had a issue. I also enjoy Morris but...
I just ordered 8 flats to find my price went up an unbelievable 42% !!!! The very nice young lady explained they had not been making much money the past couple years and went up on their prices. UGG!!! Can anyone suggest a good low pressure, low recall alternative?? Sorry Morris.

42%...???

So for a flat of shells that was $112 plus shipping we will now be paying almost $150 plus shipping???

Morris has held his prices very well for a long time and an increase was inevitable but sheesh...

David - I’ll sell you a MEC 9000 for the price of one flat of RSTs and you can roll your own. I also have a MEC Grabber in 20 gauge. Teach a man to fish....

David, just took a quick glance at their website, 28 ga shells still show at 120 a flat which is up ten bucks, what did you order? If they have jumped prices that much I'll also be looking for a new vendor. Maybe Polywad

I’ve been buying 16 ga individual boxes of ultra lite and spreaders from RST for years. Both are up a buck a box in the past month, less than 10%.

I have used Clever shells in 20 and 12 gauge. The 20's I use are 3/4 oz at 1150 FPS and the 12 is a 7/8 oz load also about 1150. I don't know the pressures but they are a mild shooting shell. I have only used them in fluid steel barreled guns.

From what I understand, they were making the habbit of giving dealer pricing to a lot of people who were not dealers, or hardly volume buyers at that. I know they have stopped this recently. So maybe that is the large difference in price that Dave speaks of.

On the some of the shells I see the they have gone from $11 to $12 a box. Did your shipping cost more...which lead to the higher overall cost? I just ordered a few flats of 16's for the new to me Parker I'll post about as soon as I get it.

I think the only other alternative is Polywad or to reload. I am reloading now for 12 and 10 gauge. RST's 7/8 and 3/4 12 gauge loads are great. If you don't reload I think RST is probably the best option even with their recent price increase, which I didn't even notice until I saw this thread. They have a great selection in every gauge and shipping is quick.

Morris has done a lot for our shooting community through the years, and a company has to make a profit to stay in business. I'am sure their cost for components have increased just like everything else. I would hate to see the RST line of shells go away. So if a price increase is needed to keep us all supplied with first class shells for our favorite guns, so be it.
