Similar smiles on those two! I can't imagine why...

Very cool, we are thinking about taking my sons dogs out tomorrow for some quail in central Florida. Oscar is a 1 1/2 year old, and Eva is a 4 moth old. Both are GSP’s, Oscar is a bit of a veteran getting to hunt grouse and woodcock last fall in northern Michigan.

Me too! I want Sherwood to be able to hunt quail, woodcock and grouse. A friend told me grouse was better once he got some experience with other birds

I was a pheasant hunter 15 years ago. Once I started hunting grouse and woodcock, I never looked back. Woodcock are great for the dogs, and the ruffed grouse is the greatest challenge I have ever encountered with a dog and a shotgun.

Heff - It's none of my damned business, but, are you sure that your pup is accustomed to gunshots? I've seen more than a few dogs who became gunshy because they were not properly introduced to the gun.

Big D, the dogs are my sons. Oscar is unbelievable for his age. We killed 3 grouse and over a dozen woodcock over him last year in Norther Michigan as a 14 month old. He exceeded all my expectations. The pup, Eva had her first trip out a few days ago for quail in central Florida (that’s where my son lives, and my wife and I are currently visiting) she has been acquainted to gunfire, and we are just getting her out to let her chase big brother around and see what putting the hunting collar on is all about.

Glad it's working out. More than once, I have seen folks dragging a new puppy being around the gun club, quivering. They tell me they are teaching it not to be gunshy. When I suggest that they might want to take the dog home, I've been told to mind my own business. Fine.
