Barrel bulge
Thanks Richard,
I will give Briley a call on Monday. Im not sure why the guy didn't suggest it when I had the gun there last week to ask about fixing the bulge. I guess I didn't ask the right questions |

Fix the bulge before you get the Brileys fitted. The fitted tubes are the way to go unless you want to switch them back and forth between guns. I have several sets of Brileys and they are all fitted. Send the gun to Keith Kearcher.

Bill, I talked to Keith Kearcher today and he said he would have to see the barrels and that he would be out of town for couple weeks. I may just drive over to Kerrville after the holidays so I can talk to him in person. I talked to Briley's about inserts and they said that a 20 gauge insert might be a problem since it could bulge out at the bulge in the original barrel but that a 28ga or 410 insert would be no problem. I think I will see what Keith says then go from there.

Brent you should be able to find a set of barrels cheaper than tubes. Briley put 28ga full tubes in a 16ga hammer gun for me but was 1700$ They did a great job but was a little rich if you know what I mean.

Gary, that does seem a little high. more than the trojan would be worth in good condition. I saw that Brileys have some drop in inserts they advertise that come with 2 chokes each that will take a 12 down to a 20 ga. for 475 which if it will work would be okay. From what I gather even if I find some barrels for the gun it costs 300 or so to get them fitted to my reciever

Bret,
It doesn't take much to fit a set of tubes yourself. I bought 2 sets (28&20)a while back and fit the 20's to a Damascus DH in about an hour. Its only chamber fitting. They work great. Look for a used set and try it. Bob Jurewicz |

If your haven't already done so, I'd have someone qualified look at it to assess the strength. Most bulges are not a problem from a strength perspective. Me, I just can't warm up to a tubed gun. Ive had two and got rid of both after giving them a fair try.
