Default Horb butt plates

Does anyone have a good method of repairing worm holes in horn butt plates? Have used JB weld with India ink in it and worked ok but was WAY harder than the horn. Thanks in advance.

You might try using epoxy colored with India or black leather dye; "under mix" the epoxy by not using the recommended quantity of hardener in proportion to the substrate compound. Experiment around until you get the consistency of a pencil eraser so it will flex with the horn and not "nail out" around it.
