The Remington codes are stamped on the barrel flat under the left barrel.

Thank you for the prompt reply to my message. What type or kind of code would I be looking for. CAN YOU PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE? Any help would be greatly appreciated. When I look under the barrels I find - "D4" in one place - a "C" in another place and in another place I find a "3 with a 4" stamped. Any ideas??? On the other barrel I find "Pat'd April11, 1878" and also the markings "Fluid Steel". All serial numbers on the receiver and the forend match. This is a "G" grade in 16 guage with a straight stock. Thanks in advance foryour help, any help you might provide in the future.

Click on the "Remington Repair Codes" link on the left side of the PGCA home page.

Don't enter anythingin the box that comes up (just hit enter key) and it will display a table of the codes and at the top it tells you where to look for them.

D4 generally indicates Damascus Grade 4 and the C could also indicate a Grade 4.

With a 3 lb., 4 oz. barrel weight it seems to be a sixteen gauge 0-frame or a 20 ga.

"Fluid Steel" and D4 don't go together and I have never seen Parker barrels marked "Fluid Steel".

Nothing you have listed are Remington codes.

Can you post some pictures?

Dan, On the home page there is a link on left side for Rem codes. Codes will be next to the lug on right and be in first a letter then number format. If you post pic I'm sure someone will help. Craig
