Sherman L. Mays

I came across a gun that was restocked by Sherman L. Mays. He was located in Manchester Tenn., and his business was know as ''The Stock Shop''.
The quality of his work is ''Superb'', 1st Class all the way. I know He wrote 2
books on Stocks & Checking and that 2 piece stocks was His Specialty. He must have done a lot of double gun stocks over the years. The gun I have seen is a
Savage M-99. I also know He died a few years ago. Any body ever use Him to restock a gun ? May be some of you Southern Guys knew Him ? Let Me know.

Parker's were restocked by Mays. Seeing that his work was ''Impeccable'' I Would think that many Parker's were Stocked by Him.
His price's were very reasonable compared to what's out their Now.

I knew him well. He was a fine person as well as a talented craftsman. Always had a smile on his face and a funny story to share. He restocked an SC trap for me and did a fine job. He also repaired some guns for me that had cracks from recoil or neglect. A true old school craftsman.
